Labs scramble to destroy pandemic flu strain - Cold and Flu - MSNBC.com

Scientists around the world were scrambling to prevent the possibility of a pandemic after a nearly 50-year-old killer influenza virus was sent to thousands of labs, a decision that one researcher described as 'unwise.'


whoops. someone sent out a sample of influenza that is very contagious with test kits. they normally send out "current" influenza strains instead of this one which is about 50 years old and which very few people have an immunity to anymore. check out the article if you have time.
